Privacy
The service is designed to convert a route without building a history of where you go.
What is processed
When you use direct place entry, typed text is sent from your browser to Google Maps after you begin entering a place so that suggestions can be shown; selecting a suggestion retrieves its name and formatted address. You can instead enter an address or coordinates without selecting a suggestion. When you calculate a route, the server processes the shared URL or places you enter, including the start, destination, intermediate stops, travel mode, and route preferences. Those locations are sent to the Google Maps Routes API to calculate route geometry. Google processes these requests under the Google Privacy Policy.
Google Maps in your browser
The Google Maps browser library loads when you choose direct place entry for suggestions, or after a shared-link route is successfully calculated for the interactive map. When it loads, Google receives standard browser data such as your IP address, this site's origin, and map interactions. The route lines themselves come from the calculation you requested. You can still enter free text, compare routes, and download GPX files if suggestions or the map are unavailable.
Temporary storage
The calculated route and GPX download are kept in server memory for about 15 minutes, then expire automatically. They are not written to a database. Submitted URLs and place names are deliberately excluded from application logs.
Operational data
The service uses an IP address briefly for abuse prevention and rate limiting. Infrastructure providers may retain standard security and access logs. No advertising trackers, analytics cookies, user accounts, or route-history cookies are used.
Your device
The GPX file is generated only when requested and downloaded to your device. What happens after import is controlled by the GPS or route app you choose.
